Data tells us the current pharmacy system is broken. For example, 30% of people don’t pick up their medications on time, which can lead to health risks. The good news? Home delivery has been shown to improve the likelihood that patients get and take their medication. 💊 🩺 Prescription medication delivery has existed since the 1940s, but it accounts for just 10% of U.S. pharmacy orders. Amazon Pharmacy is modernizing the home-delivery experience by reducing delivery speeds to just hours in some cases, providing real-time delivery updates, and helping customers manage acute conditions like the flu from home. Amazon uses generative AI and machine learning to help pharmacists fill prescriptions more quickly and accurately. This tech doesn’t replace pharmacists – it relieves them of duplicative and time-consuming administrative work, so they can focus on helping more people. For example, the traditional process of manually filling, labeling, and sending prescriptions takes three minutes. Our robotic arms can do that in as little as 30 seconds while reducing the likelihood of administrative errors. That lets pharmacists focus their time and energy on patient care – they also verify that every prescription leaving a fulfillment center includes the right medicine, strength, dosage, quantity, and address label. We’re grateful for our entire Amazon Pharmacy team, who’s helping us make customer lives easier! 👏 https://amzn.to/44TZauW .

Great video - explains how Rx Saving Solution works alongside the insurance plan and their formulary to help patients and prescribers identify the lowest priced clinically evaluated medications in an effort to help reduce the financial burden patients experience with medications. We all know if a patient cannot afford a medication- they aren’t going to take it- doesn’t matter if it is prescribed or not- if they can’t afford it they are not going to get the treatment they need. So great to work for a company whose mission is to help patients get the treatment they need and figure out a way to make it affordable for them!
Great video explaining how Rx Savings Solutions uses your Pharmacy and your PBM to make them even better!

Eli Lilly is partnering with Amazon's pharmacy unit to offer home delivery for Zepbound at a steep discount. As part of Eli Lilly’s program, patients whose Rx plans don’t cover Zepbound, can get it for $550/month through Eli Lilly Direct program with Amazon as the anchor pharmacy. This is actually cheaper than the PBM negotiated rates of $700-$900 per month (after rebates) and provides an opportunity for plan sponsors who are willing to consider creative approaches to get Zepbound at a better price. While I don’t use Zepbound, I have started using Amazon Pharmacy for my maintenance meds and have found the experience to be better compared to chain pharmacies. What are your thoughts on Eli Lilly’s partnership with Amazon? Full link in the 📌comment below. #employeebenefits #employeeexperience #humanresources

A bit of a random ask but is anyone aware of any Acute Trusts which are partnered with a online prescription service and patients receive their medication through the post (if it isn’t urgent obviously) without requiring GP/Primary Care input? 🙏 Equally interested to hear about any Amazon style lockers which patients could pick up medication from? (I am aware there is a lot of legislation surrounding ideas like this but the best way to have a good idea is to have lots of ideas!💡) #prescription #onlinepharmacy #acutetrusts

Here’s the problem with the month old Amazon Pharmacy One Medical campaign. The ad goes like this. Too sick to get out of bed ? Or back thrown out ? Get your meds through Amazon at the same speed you’re used to. Right to your door. POW 💥 ▪️This of course doesn’t apply to scheduled pain meds ▪️Though 85% of visits can be done virtually will the 15% that should be in person slip through the cracks that a proper physical, workup and labs would catch ? ▪️Is Amazon remotely close to fair pricing of generics? Resounding No. They are free at one national DPC on the show and pennies a pill at three wholesale pharmacies on my pod. ▪️At $99 annual access fee for virtual only will this win profits when One Medical is bleeding red ink at $199/ month? $49/visit when DPC fully service offered is about the same monthly at its bottom in every city ? ▪️How long will whitecoats abide by charting at night and taking calls ? That’s precisely the knifes edge when FFS and DPC Frankenstein together. It’s a yikes retention model. Amazon did an oops with Haven. Amazon Health. —One Med isn’t looking smarter. $80billion in reserves is a finite pool when med prices race to the bottom. And docs/NP patience is limited.
Amazon One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy take the pain out of healthcare.

Coach & CEO @ The Happy PharmD | Empowers pharmacists to pursue fulfilling careers | DM me for a career consult call
What were the BIGGEST #pharmacy stories/events to happen this year? Here are some of my top picks/favorites: - Explosion in AI tech dev for healthcare (ex: Amazon's HealthScribe launch) - #pharmageddon - USA Today article: Prescription for disaster - Ohio pharmacy practice advancement - Walgreens/CVS/Rite Aid closure announcements - PBM disruption (like Blue Shield of California dropping CVS Caremark as state's PBM) I'm thinking about doing regular roundups of big news/trends related to the pharmacy marketplace. We'll see what 2024 holds for pharmacy and me!
