""We operate within a financial system and a financial market … and there’s a complex reality we have to relate to," Mohn (Head of Shell's 3rd largest investor) said during a recent industry conference. Shell’s decisions to scale back emissions reductions and grow its fossil fuels business are financially sound within the current financial system, he said."

New: While Shell and other oil companies could have used their profits over the past year to accelerate their transformation to and participation in a future without fossil fuels, they were used to boost shareholder dividends and buy back shares.
What’s more frightening is that oil companies have scaled back their climate targets.
"For some investors — whose answer to the “divest or engage” question has largely leaned toward the latter — these shifts by the oil majors have started to tip the scales in the opposite direction.

DC’S MICHAEL GJEVNØE SØRENSEN AMONG ‘FUTURE LEADERS’
Our head of Global Business Development, Michael G. Sørensen, earned a spot among the top 30 rising stars at the recent Future Leaders 2023 event in London, putting a spotlight on the future of the renewable energy sector.
Michael's application for the event stood out by highlighting the importance of leaders driving impactful change. He illustrated how steering Danske Commodities’ global expansion requires not just the guts to navigate uncertainty and complexity but also the finesse to make tough decisions and challenge personal beliefs.
On why he applied to be part of the event, he says: “I wanted to learn from and engage with current and future industry leaders on how we can make a positive and significant impact on the renewable energy transition through collaboration, innovation and value creation. Balancing the energy trilemma of affordability, reliability and sustainability will be one of the biggest challenges for human prosperity, and I would like to play a part in shaping a future where the trilemma can be balanced without the need for subsidies. To me, that is the only way for the renewables industry to be truly sustainable.”
Well-deserved, Michael!
