The “Sustainable Minds” are our corporate ambassador network with which we want to drive forward our Sustainability Strategy 2030 in our worldwide group of companies. The mission and motivation of the “Sustainable Minds” is to exchange knowledge about sustainability, share practical examples of social and ecological commitment and develop new ideas. As a global community of around 50 employees from all hierarchical levels, they have an advisory, support and interface function in our governance structure for sustainability. “We are working towards anchoring our sustainability strategy at Gebr. Heinemann in the consciousness of each and every one and advancing the associated goals and measures with all our strength. In order to go into depth and make a difference across the Group, we have created the `Sustainable Minds´,” says Saskia Möller, LL.M., Director Legal, Compliance & Sustainability. “We deliberately chose today´s World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development for the kick-off event for our ambassador network,” says Joel-Florian Beck, Head of Sustainability. “As a global group of companies, we attach great importance to cultural diversity, and the `Sustainable Minds´ embody and represent this perfectly.” If you want to find out more about our sustainability strategy, check out our “Annual Business & Corporate Responsibility Report 2023” with the article “Driving the Sustainable Evolution of Global Travel Retail”: https://lnkd.in/dKYvZ4wb #WorldDayforCulturalDiversity #SustainableImpact #HeinemannFamily

‘How sustainable is your supply chain?’ – a question we can all expect to be asked more and more frequently. It’s important that suppliers (like Office Depot!) can provide clear plans on how they aim to reach Carbon Net Zero. This combines the idea of both transparency and working together to improve sustainability within the entire supply chain. We’ll only get there if we work together!

Newsletter Sign Up: https://lnkd.in/emwpPs2c #BristolEvents #NetworkingEvents #SouthWest #GreenTech #SocialImpact #SustainableBusiness #CorporateResponsibility #SustainabilityAwareness #EthicalLeadership **Full Interview** What does ‘Brand Activism’ mean to you? For me, brand activism means using your position, power and influence as an organisation to create change in society. It should never be just a marketing strategy, where your voice just creates more noise, it’s an opportunity to add value and give something back. Should businesses engage in social and environmental issues? Yes, I believe all businesses have a responsibility to engage in social and environmental issues, both ethically and from a business perspective - they need to have cultural fluency and be able to adapt to societal changes to remain relevant.

A.I.S.E. launches a range of voluntary industry initiatives to drive sustainability throughout the sector. While the environmental pillar has been in place for over 50 years, the social and business pillars gain equal footing and A.I.S.E. not only involves the user in the process but also lays emphasis on the industry’s values through its communication. ♻️ Sustainable Packaging Executive Search, Senior Consultant at Venari Partners | Retail & Consumer Goods Management Consulting
🙏 Thankful for the opportunity to spend the past few days in #barcelona at the Sustainable Packaging in Europe conference. Reflecting on some great discussions and meetings – #collaboration #harmonisation #legislation #PPWR #EPR #recyclability were mentioned A LOT, and in the concluding remarks it was no surprise to hear that as a sector we MUST be #bolder and #braver to make the positive progress we all desire! Hearing from so many influential retailers, brand owners and packaging companies was both extremely insightful but also overwhelming. The value chain is extremely vast and each company, with good intentions, has different and sometimes conflicting approaches to making a positive impact on the environment. This will NOT be achieved in totality by all. And for those who are hitting sustainability targets and SBTi numbers, there will also be flaws in the way they do business. BUT with the new PPWR legislation, and through collaboration and asking tough questions throughout the value chain, significant steps are about to be taken. The timeline on this remains ambiguous but it does feel like the tide is beginning to turn. Looking forward to following up with my connections (old and new) to discuss how they are putting into practice some of their key takeaways from the conference. Needless to say, if this involves a new approach to attracting strong #talent – please reach out and let’s have a chat. I’m looking forward to Chicago 2024, by which point hopefully the conversation has moved on… #accountability #packaging #striveforchange #untilnexttime #circularity #closetheloop #sustainablepackaging #conference

Such a pleasure to convene such brilliant sustainability and D&I minds to discuss the connectedness of the two corporate functions and how we can break down the silos between the two. Given that "Leave no one behind" is the central promise of the SDGs, efforts to end discrimination and exclusion, and reduce inequalities and vulnerabilities should be central in our climate fight. Diversity and inclusion is sustainability, so why do many corporations see them as separate functions with separate remits? Read more on the discussion in our summary of the discussion in the blog below 👇
At the end of November, Wilful hosted a roundtable discussion with some of the leading voices from the D&I and Sustainability space. The discussion centred around the connectedness of D&I and Sustainability and why it is time to break down the silos between the two functions. Here are a few of the outcomes from the discussion but we’d love to hear your thoughts. We will be hosting a second event on the topic in February so if this is something that interests you, get in touch- we’d love to hear from you.
