I talk to veterans or their spouses pretty regularly who either never filed a VA claim or got a low initial rating and never re-filed to get it looked at and get the percentage they actually deserve. When I ask them why they haven't done anything about it, the answers are either they didn't know, they don't think they'll get more, or they're lazy and just didn't do it. They're literally losing money they deserve because of lack of knowledge or laziness. Fix it now. After I got my initial rating, I thought it was off, so I got with United Veteran Benefits Agency and had them re-file for me. With three phone calls, two VA appointments, and a few months of waiting I went from 80% to 100% P&T. Now not only did my disability pay increase (it was about a $1700/month increase 😯), but my kids can go to college for free, CHAMP VA will take care of medical co-pays, many states don't charge property tax to 100% disabled veterans, and there are many other benefits. So do the right thing for you and your family. Stop leaving benefits and money on the table. You're not taking the money from someone who deserves it more, or cheating the system, or whatever other excuse you can come up with. Get it right and get yourself and your family taken care of.
