During my last 5 months being underage posed a challenge in securing a job directly in the hospitality sector. Fueled by determination, I took a different route and landed a position at Calvin Klein . Little did I know that this experience would serve as a transformative chapter in my career. At CK, the emphasis on client interaction was paramount. I found myself engaging with diverse individuals, understanding their preferences, and ensuring their satisfaction. These skills, although seemingly unrelated to hospitality at first glance, laid the foundation for mastering the art of #customerservice & #customerexperience The fast-paced environment at CK demanded adaptability and quick thinking – traits crucial in any hospitality setting. Handling client inquiries, resolving issues with finesse, and maintaining a professional demeanor became second nature. The fashion industry's demand for impeccable service inadvertently prepared me for the high standards of hospitality. Silently, without a formal job in hospitality, I am acquiring the essential skills—attention to detail, interpersonal finesse, & a commitment to exceeding expectations. My tenure at Calvin Klein, though unconventional, turned out to be the secret ingredient that is making me industry-ready for the #hospitalityindustry . As an aspiring hospitality professional, I carry with me a unique skill set forged in the fires of client-centricity and adaptability. This journey, marked by unexpected turns, underscores the idea that sometimes, the most unconventional paths lead to the most promising destinations in one's professional evolution. #hospitality #retailindustry #fashionbusiness #learnandgrow #industrystandards

Meet Kelly Arnsdorf, our May #EmployeeSpotlight, who has been with the company for 1 year! Kelly is our Vancouver Receiving Supervisor and we have asked him to answer some questions so you can get to know him better! As a Receiving Supervisor, I am keenly aware that each day, my team and I have a positive impact on the company's success, our colleagues' endeavors, and, most importantly, the creations, designs, and dreams of our customers. Through dedication, attention to detail, accuracy, and hard work, my team and I leave a lasting impression. I often reflect on the intricate journey a fabric roll undergoes from its inception to its fulfillment. From designers, weavers, and planners to our logistics partners, warehouses, and ultimately into the waiting hands of the customer, every step is crucial. As a Receiving Supervisor, I don't simply handle and transport products; I handle a customer's vision. While I am not alone in this process, as there are many helping hands along the way, I play a critical role in ensuring that the fabric reaches its final destination—the customer. What is the most exciting part about your position? The most exciting aspect of my position lies in several areas. Firstly, witnessing the return of satisfied customers, knowing they trust our services, brings immense satisfaction. Secondly, ensuring 100% accuracy instills confidence in our customers, demonstrating our expertise and reliability. Additionally, at Ennis Fabrics, I have the opportunity to engage in forward-thinking endeavors, exploring innovations in warehousing, technology, and automation. This allows me to integrate my logistics expertise with my background in information technology, envisioning and implementing strategies for enhanced operational efficiency. Lastly, the joy of contributing to beautifying the world through vibrant colors, one roll at a time, adds a creative and fulfilling dimension to my role. What do you do the ensure a healthy work-life balance? Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial to me, especially given the demands of working in a warehouse environment. To counteract the indoor work atmosphere, I prioritize spending time outdoors, embarking on adventures with my wife to explore new and captivating places. As a computer enthusiast, I immerse myself in the world of gaming, where I've developed a complex scenario for an MMO game incorporating elements from popular Sci-Fi franchises like Star Wars, Star Trek, Dune, Stargate, and BSG. Witnessing my creative vision come to life on screen is immensely fulfilling. Additionally, I indulge my passion for art, particularly in crafting Sci-Fi creations inspired by current events. Lastly, I cherish quality time with great friends, engaging in meaningful conversations over good beer, which adds a social and relaxing dimension to my life outside of work.

Founder & CEO @ Nova Chief of Staff | Acclaimed Fortune 40 CoS to President | First-of-its-kind Chief of Staff Certification Course | C-Suite Leadership Speaker | Building Confidence Around the Globe 🌎
I learned a long time ago that I'm best in roles where I can practice both "the ART and the SCIENCE," and the Chief of Staff role is just that. As a Buyer at Nordstrom, we talked A LOT about the important blend of the art and the science. And in roles since I've been attuned to how - when both show up - I find harmony personally and professionally. ✨ The gut, the vibe, the feeling, the creativity. The data, the analysis, the planning, the strategy. The merchandise, the color, the season, the customer. The performance, the quantity, the timing, the replenishment. The designing, the building, the creating, the collaborating, The business planning, the follow-ups, the strategy, the process. The movement, the outdoors, the play, the letting loose. The research, the reading, the analyzing, the business side of things. ✨ When I am in roles that are too far on the science side, I compensate in my personal life: hello interior design-side gig, pottery class, and coloring. When I am in roles that offer me a creative outlet - even a small one - I am happier and more balanced. The blend of "the art and the science" is key for me finding happiness in my job. #chiefofstaff #executiveassistant #artandscience #generalist __ In the comments: Do you need a blend of both the art and the science to be happy in your work? Do you notice when one area is lacking? Do you find that Chiefs of Staff are better when they balance both areas well?
