#Romania has fantastically #biodiversity rich #forests, most of which also play an important #socio-#economic role, given the large rural population still dependent on #firewood, for instance. A serious discussion should take place between relevant stakeholders, in order to find a balance between the simultaneously increasing demand for #wood and for #ecological services. As #climatechange happens much faster than #trees can adapt to it, what should be done in order to prevent #naturaldisasters , or once such unfortunate events did occur? Shall ancient forests be kept untouched by human intervention (meaning without a minimal access infrastructure), or shall proactive measures be taken before natural disasters strike, and enable the access in such stands? And once a natural event occurs (as it is happening more and more frequently, with one to two million m3 of wood being damaged in Romania annually), shall the affected forests be only observed in order to see how the local ecosystem balances itself, or shall they be opened for urgent logging, in order to prevent a further spread of calamities? I welcome informed opinions and advice based on direct working experience from #forestry professionals around the world!

🦅Golden eagle soaring in the skies above Eryri (Snowdonia) 🏔️??? This news article caught my eye 👀 aerial predators seem the most strategic group to focus on first in England and Wales, as they can move between the isolated pockets of suitable habitat while reconnecting us to the important role in creating a landscape of fear. "A photographer brewing a cup of tea by the Afon Glaslyn spotted a large bird flying high above Gelert’s Grave in the village of Beddgelert. His footage, taken at some distance, has divided opinion but some experts believe it shows a golden eagle. The spectacular bird has a wingspan of up to 2.3 metres." "Osprey and red kite were ruled out, with a buzzard the most likely alternative. Widespread across North Wales, they are commonly mistaken for eagles." Existing Reintroduction. The Eagle Reintroduction Wales (ERW) project aims to restore eagles to the skies of Wales. Both the Golden Eagle (Eryr euraid) and the White-tailed Eagle (Eryr y mor) were once common in historic Wales, but they have been absent from our landscape for over 150 years. These magnificent birds of prey are part of Welsh heritage and culture, and the ERW project is gathering scientific evidence to present a case for their reintroduction to their historic Welsh homes. In recent years, researchers at Cardiff University have been investigating whether the modern Welsh landscape could support the reintroduction of golden and white-tailed eagles. These majestic birds could soar once again over places like Snowdonia, where they haven’t been seen since the 1850s, until recently if this video is confirmed. Interview with Yasmin Groot - Art Director Animal Heroes Foundation 👉 What do you do in your daily life? In my everyday life, I run a creative studio called @Rauhaus_Amsterdam where I specialise in making complex ideas easy to understand through design, branding and strategy. In April I will become a mum for the first time, and till then me and my partner are busy finishing up work on our home. We love being with family and friends, and we have a wonderful street dog from Portugal named Loes who joins us on our walks.   👉 Where does your passion for animals come from? I adore animals because they're naturally honest, have pure intentions, and show unconditional love. Even when their actions may seem otherwise, it's just their instinct guiding them, never with any bad intentions.   👉 You designed the Animal Heroes logo and the modern house style, what does Animal Heroes mean to you? Animal Heroes gives a voice to those often overlooked. Especially during times of crisis when emergency aid is extended, it tends to focus solely on humans. Even though animals are also in need of help, they are often overlooked and forgotten."   👉 What are you most proud of at Animal Heroes? I am proud of the fact that in less than a year we have built a complete organisation with a team of volunteers who all want to contribute to our mission. It is special to see how many animals and animal heroes we have already been able to help with this team!   👉 Which Animal Hero appeals to you the most and why? It is difficult to name an animal hero since all our heroes work so hard to make the lives of animals more beautiful and bearable. From Ali and his abused and traumatised donkeys, to Diana in the West Bank, they all have such big hearts and work selflessly for a more animal-friendly world. I can't distinguish between them; they are all my heroes!   👉 What really makes you happy? Art brings me happiness; I love immersing myself in its colours, concepts, and expressions, each conveying a unique message. Who is the client and what was the problem. Strategy - 3 bullet points on what our game plan was. Results - 3 bullet points on the KPI's we hit out of the park.
