After 17 years at Google/Alphabet, I have decided to move on.  While I have found so many amazing people to work with and projects to work on inside of Alphabet, the time has come for me to see how things work in the “outside world.” The great memories are too many to list here, from being part of the early Android project and launch to helping build Google Glass to being on the hot seat for Buganizer to building and riding in self-driving cars.  I’ve traveled from Singapore to Sydney to Taiwan to Ireland.  There have been ski trips and late nights and code and demos and products in boxes on store shelves. I’ve seen Google grow from 5000 employees (“Why would they hire _me_?  How many people can it possibly take to run a search engine?”) to more than 140,000. From code review via email to cloud IDEs.  From having to walk “all the way over to building 47” to having to drive to another campus in the same city.  While Google has had its share of growing pains, the scaling has been amazing. Code has been written, teams have been managed, products have been built (and sometimes canceled).  Memes have been generated.  It’s been a great ride.  Who knows?  Maybe I’ll be back again some day.

Congrats on the run. Life as a boomerang is okay, but your tenure number resets and percent/ is all messed up. I hope the next gig goes well.
