I had the honor of creating the Nike Dunk “Legacy 365” for the Black Employee Network at Nike. With #Juneteenth being observed tomorrow, I thought I’d share these great photos by Robert Williams at Nike DNA. Here is an article by Sole Retriever: https://lnkd.in/gDJ6z7ST Inspiration on the Dunk: “Look good, feel good” — ode to barber shops and salon conversations. Smooth leather and rough suede for the salon and barber chair aesthetic. Also, playing on “it be rough but somehow we come out smooth with it. Embroidery down swoosh playing in the “holding it together “ each one teach one” philosophy. And the notion that we have to hold each other down. Rope laces for how we pull together as a community and pull each other up. Green, black and red tongue graphic. It’s the upside down pan African flag. I wanted whoever is wearing them to look down and see how important being black was. If someone looks at them straight on it’s not the same effect. You have to be in them. Transparent outsole because we constantly have to keep it 💯 in those barber shop/ salon convos. Transparency is key in those convos. All black — because we black 365! Shout out : Aaron Hankins Zack Sweet Domonique Debnam, MBA And the BEN Team for the help to bring this one to life. Proud moment for sure.
