A voltage detector is an IC that monitors a certain voltage such as supply voltage. It is sometimes called a reset IC, for it sends a reset signal to the CPU at power-on reset signal detection or at supply voltage abnormality detection. #MB85RS2MTAPNF-G-BDERE1 MB85RS2MTA is a FeRAM (Ferroelectric Random Access Memory) chip in a configuration of 262,144 words  8 bits, using the ferroelectric process and silicon gate CMOS process technologies for forming the nonvolatile memory cells. MB85RS2MTA adopts the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). The MB85RS2MTA is able to retain data without using a back-up battery, as is needed for SRAM. The memory cells used in the MB85RS2MTA can be used for 1013 read/write operations, which is a significant improvement over the number of read and write operations supported by Flash memory and E2PROM. MB85RS2MTA does not take long time to write data like Flash memories or E2PROM, and MB85RS2MTA takes no wait time.

(ADC)Analog to Digital Converter is digital device used to convert an analog signal (like voltage and sound etc.) to its digital form. An ADC works in three simple steps -: 1) Sampling 2) Quantization 3) Encoding 1.)   Sampling – Analog signal is sampled at a frequency greater than twice of the maximum frequency of Analog signal in order to fulfill Nyquist criteria 2.)   Quantization – Comparing the sampled analog value to a reference value and assigning it the closest quantization level 3.)   Encoder – Here the Quantized signal is converted into its digital form Factors affecting the ADC 1.)   Step Size – It the difference between two consecutive quantization level 2.)   Resolution – Total no of Quantization Levels present in the ADC 3.)   Vref – reducing the reference voltage increases the resolution of the ADC In Stm32 there is 8-to-12-bit adjustable ADC and we can enable and disable the ADC using ADEN bit in ADC_CR register and it also provides two modes 1.)   Single Conversion mode – In which ADC does one conversion and stops until next instruction 2.)   Continuous Conversion mode – In which ADC starts another conversion as soon as it finishes one This is controlled by CONT bit in ADC_CFGR register

Nice to meet Hakim Jaafar at the #TSMC event. We discussed about ways to cooperate to support mutual customers. Dolphin Design has a lot of semiconductor IP that is complementary to Sofics solutions. Hakim introduced me to their low power audio IP platform, Power management platform and design services. Hakim also had a funny analogy about #ESD protection clamps.
