Thank you Meta! After 8 years, my journey at Meta has come to an end. This will be my last week at Meta. I knew this was a special place when I stepped into the campus and met all the amazing people. I was blown away by the big ambitions of the company - we were laying fiber across the ocean, building planes to beam internet, growing our infrastructure by 100X to support Video growth. Focus on making each other more successful and better was unlike anything I had seen before. It was captured by a beautiful graffiti on the walls of my building. Last 8 years have been the most rewarding time of my career. I had the privilege to build Video products and infrastructure that touch Billions of people everyday. Some of the cool things I got to work on with my amazing team: - Developing the Video platform (https://bit.ly/3D2nNJL) that processes Billions of Videos everyday and enables Billion+ hours of watch time on Meta products. I am proud that we won the 72nd Emmy Award (https://bit.ly/3REtSAm) for this work. - Building Facebook Live in a Hackathon in 2015 (https://bit.ly/3erMDZx). We quickly added the capability to do multi-party Live and Live API. Since then, billions of broadcasts have happened on this platform and often millions of people watch a single Live stream. Live is a powerful tool to give voice to everyone and connect people across the world. - Building the Video matching system for copyright/integrity and acquiring VIdentifier tech from Iceland to accelerate the work and preventing bad players. - Supporting world’s best Video Codec Software and Hardware team. We were a late entrant to Videos space and now we are one of the leaders in Video compression by integrating HW/SW Video tech. This effort really proved that well executed long range efforts pay off big time! - Enhancing Audio for Videos and bringing in Accusonus team from Greece with some of the world’s best experts in Audio technology. - Organizing Video@Scale (https://bit.ly/3TOL4om) for the last 6 years to share and learn Video technology at Scale. I am proud of the team and what we have achieved together. I will forever be thankful to my amazing team and so many inspiring people in the company who helped me be more successful and made me a better leader. Most valuable part of my experience here will be the relationships, which I am sure will transcend organizations. I will be starting my new adventure next week, more on it later.
