When you are working with vulnerable people in any setting, understanding real lives and trauma is crucial. Trauma, resilience and strength impact how adults and children participate with people and organisations. Understanding and being a trauma-informed practitioner is essential in working with vulnerable people. However, as a researcher, a trauma-informed approach to engaging children in research on childhood abuse remains difficult. Discussion about the rights of children, Article 12, and how to support children in a meaningful participatory involvement was enlightening. On Monday, 24th July, I attended the conferences about Adopting a Trauma-Informed Approach to Research: Lessons from Practice and Lives Experience at the School of Law and Social Justice - the University of Liverpool, representing the University of Bedfordshire, post-graduate (IASR) research. The conference led by Professor Helen Beckett and Helen Stalford, where they presented their research on trauma-informed practice, provided insight into how best to approach research and practice in a trauma-informed manner. Lots of informative approaches were shared, working with Migrant communities, their journey of displacement and trauma and how acknowledging the impact of trauma experience allows for better outcomes needs to be a priority. There needs to be a more significant proactive accounting of the power dynamics; working collaboratively and empowering gives people more choices and control of their own experiences and avoids replicating abusive power dynamics. The Principle of trauma-informed practice cuts across disciplines when you explore meaningful participation and what this means in research and practice. Indeed, the challenges are in connection and care, ensuring the research approach and ethics standards are met and adhered to as good practice and upholding the rights of participants. A Business Development Manager and Care Consultant driving Co-production for Health and Social Care Services Driven by change, diversity, equality and equity in Health and Social Care Services.
Providers- Very interesting read. Extremely important to have a say and shape the future for our individuals. This consultation will run from 26 April 2024 to 21 June 2024. The purpose of this consultation is to gather views on: - Whether, now DHSC has carried out a PIR of the 2014 regulations, it is appropriate to remove the expiry date for those regulations and replace it with a 5-yearly review. The purpose of removing the expiry date is to ensure CQC continues to have regulatory oversight of the health and care sector and maintain the requirements for providers of regulated activities to meet fundamental standards in respect of those activities. - Inserting a 5-yearly review clause would mean regular reviews of the 2014 regulations take place to ensure they remain fit for purpose DHSC’s proposal in respect of the exceptions relating to: -Treatment in a sports ground or gymnasium (including associated premises) where it is provided for the sole benefit of persons taking part in, or attending, sporting activities and events -The provision of treatment under temporary arrangements to deliver healthcare to those taking part in, or attending, sporting or cultural events DHSC’s proposal in respect of the notification of the use of restraint for people with a learning disability and autistic people. DHSC is proposing an amendment to the regulations which will apply to all patients being assessed or treated for a mental health disorder in a mental health unit (and not only people with a learning disability and autism) https://lnkd.in/eDJzcSvB
On the 26 April 2024 the Department of Health and Social Care published a consultation document seeking views on removing the expiry date of the The Health and Social Care Act 2008 \(Regulated Activities\) Regulations 2014 and replacing it with a 5-yearly review. It is also seeking views on proposed amendments to the CQC regulations relating to: ▪️ medical care \(not First Aid\) in a sports ground or gymnasium ▪️ temporary arrangements to deliver medical care \(not first aid\) at sporting or cultural events ▪️ introducing a new requirement to notify the CQC of the use of restraint, segregation and seclusion in mental health units You can access the consultation document on GOV.UK. The consultation will close on 24th June 2024. Find out more today

The Department of Youth Services and Massachusetts Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) are excited to announce the launch of the Interactive JDAI Data Dashboard https://lnkd.in/eq9nrcwP JDAI, in partnership with the Department of Youth Services and Executive Office of Technology Services and Security, has officially launched a brand-new Data Dashboard offering an interactive analysis of juvenile detention data through an equity lens. The goal of the Dashboard is to bring JDAI collaborators, system stakeholders, and members of the public up-to-date, accurate data about detention trends across the Commonwealth. The Dashboard is interactive and allows users to filter and compare Massachusetts Department of Youth Services (DYS) data related to JDAI across several categories. The Dashboard allows users to examine the equity of aspects of the juvenile legal system to ensure that, moving forward, disparities based on race, age, gender/sexual orientation, and other aspects of a youth’s identity are not perpetuated by the system.
