Did you know? Osteopathic Physicians (DOs) are an integral part of our healthcare system, constituting about 25% of the country's physicians. What sets DOs apart from MDs is their additional training in OMT (Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy), a form of physical medicine. Contrary to recent comments on The View, it's crucial to emphasize the similarities between DOs and MDs. We undergo the same rigorous training, share residencies, and often take both MD and DO board exams. The distinctions lie in the unique skill set acquired through OMT. Let's debunk misconceptions and celebrate the diversity within the medical community. Our shared commitment to patient care unites us, emphasizing the strength in our collective expertise. #MedicalEducation

Repost from the American Osteopathic Association "Comments implying that DOs are not medical doctors could not be further from the truth. Osteopathic physicians hold positions in our nation’s top government, academic, and medical institutions and are responsible for the health and well-being of millions. Our profession has grown 63% in the past decade and nearly 300% in the last 30 years. DOs complete four years of study at an accredited medical school, including two years of clinical sciences, just like MDs, followed by two years of clinical rotations, just like MDs. DOs and MDs alike complete comprehensive licensing exams. DOs then train side-by-side with MDs in residency and fellowship programs for three to seven years, depending on specialty. DOs can choose to train and practice in all the same specialties as MDs. As practicing physicians, DOs are held to the same standards as MDs by state licensing boards and specialty certifying boards. "It is perhaps common knowledge that DEI has fully infiltrated many state medical boards, committees, and commissions around the country. But what is less clear is how much time and work these boards are putting into pet DEI projects at the expense of other meaningful efforts. Earlier this year, Do No Harm submitted a public records request for communications discussing diversity or DEI between the Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts and the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB). The response? More than 1,500 pages worth of material and work related to DEI. In fact, across these 1,500+ pages, the word 'diversity' alone was mentioned nearly 500 times. And that’s just from a single state’s medical board—imagine the volume of correspondence related to DEI from all states medical boards. Contained deep within these 1,500+ pages are several notable (and troubling) finds." Read our full report below ⬇️⬇️

I help physicians cultivate a sense of calm and regain control in their personal and professional lives. Professional Coach | Writer | Amateur Photographer | World Traveler #physiciancoaching #surgeoncoaching #wellness
In my residency program, post-op X-rays were often used to evaluate the care delivered to patients. Decision-making, procedural, and surgical abilities were judged based on the accuracy of reduction and fixation. When care happened at night, this assessment was done the following morning, usually by others who were home sleeping in the middle of the night. #physiciancoaching #surgeoncoaching #physicianwellness #surgeonwellness #physiciancoach #orthomastodon https://lnkd.in/g7zYUdse
