The challenge lies in the absence of substantial privacy laws in the past, which has led to current privacy concerns. Had there been adequate laws earlier, they could have safeguarded our data from being exploited by today's datasets and technologies. Although you can limit the data you share now, there's little you can do about the information already collected and utilized. As I said in my *disappeared* comments last week about DoubleVerify, "fighting bad AI with good AI" is a false promise: "With GenAI, the garbage websites that DV is paid on volume to monitor are infinite, so one can imagine them and other legacy third party verification vendors salivating at the opportunity." Surprise, surprise. Integral Ad Science has entered the chat, with their CEO penning an opinion piece for AdWeek (https://lnkd.in/deAuxgRB). Excerpt in screenshot below. Stop it. We don't need to "lean into AI" to take a "thoughtful approach" to "controversial news." This is yet another irresponsible and harmful narrative. Run inclusion lists. Unblock news. Pay a premium for quality inventory, not garbage data. And, be weary of vendors with conflicted business models; e.g. those that depend on perpetuating the very issues that they purport to solve - especially when they work for both sides. #adtech #transparency #news
