- [Narrator] You can often gain important insights into your data by creating a pie chart which displays the contributions of several parts to a total. For example, you could display the percentage of all revenue by department with each wedge of the pie representing an individual department or product category. In this movie, I will show you how to create a pie chart in a Tableau worksheet. My sample file is 08_03_PieChart. and you can find it in the chapter eight folder of the Exercise Files collection. I want to, in this case, summarize sales data. So I will go over to the Navigation Panel. And I'll drag Order Total to the data area. And then if I want to break the pie chart down by product category, I can drag the product Category Field up to the columns shelf. And there I have my data set out currently as a text table.
