Create a selection filter
- [Instructor] When you save data in a Tableau workbook, the program maintains an internal list of the values in each column. If you want to filter a column so only certain values appear, you can take advantage of that internal list by creating a selection filter. In this movie, I will show you how to create that kind of filter to limit the data that appears in your worksheet. My sample file is 06 03 Selection, and you can find it in the Chapter 6 folder of the Exercise Files collection. This text table lists the number of sales for each product, so you can see that broken down for our two sizes of battle rope, calcium tablets, flaxseed oil capsules, and the other products we have available. If I want to select items to display, I can go up to the Rows shelf and click the Product Name pill's down arrow, and then click Filter. That displays the filter by product name dialogue box, and I'll drag it over to the right.…
