From the course: Sharepoint Online Essential Training: Beyond the Basics

What you need for this course

There are only a couple of things that you will need if you want to work along with me in this course. First, you'll need to have SharePoint Online, which is part of Microsoft 365, so it also gets called Microsoft 365 SharePoint or SharePoint for Microsoft 365. You'll need to have adequate permissions. You need to be able to create and modify sites. And one of the things we'll look at this course is create and modify sites. So you'll need to be able to be a site owner. One of the topics that we'll cover is how to create a hub site. And to do that, you need to be either a global admin or a Microsoft 365 administrator. If you need permissions that you don't have, talk to your Microsoft 365 administrator or your SharePoint admin. And if that's not possible for whatever reason, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial of Microsoft 365, which includes SharePoint Online with full administrative permissions. In your browser, search for Microsoft 365 trial for more information. Speaking of browsers, we access SharePoint Online with a browser, and not all browsers are created to work with SharePoint, and not all combinations of browsers and operating systems are supported for use with SharePoint. So let's see what is supported. First, if you're using Windows 10 or 11, then you can access SharePoint with the latest version of Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Google Chrome. If you are using a Mac, you can use the latest version of Microsoft Edge, the latest version of Apple Safari, or the latest version of Google Chrome, and everything will work just as you see it work for me. If you're a Linux user, use the latest version of Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Google Chrome, but be aware that some of the features may not work for you because it's the combination of the browser and operating system that makes a difference. So having said all that, get your operating system and browser in order and I'll see you in the next movie.
