- [Teacher] So let's say that we have a couple of points in the coordinate plane and we need to figure out the distance between them. In this video we'll go over exactly how to do that. So, there are a couple scenarios when this is going to be much easier. Let's say that I have a point here, which is (4,3) and I have a point here which is one, two, three, four, five, six, seven this point up here, I'm going to call (4,7). So, let's say somebody asks me "How far are apart are these points?" Well the good news is they are in a straight line, right? The x-coordinate for both of them is four. So we can just kind of count how far apart seven and three are. So that distance would be ... four, right? 'Cause seven minus three is four. Likewise, we can do the same thing if they are apart horizontally, they have the same y-value. So let's say that that point is (-4,3) and somebody asks me, "How far apart is this point from this point?" Well, they have the same y-coordinate, three. So we just…
