- [Instructor] In the last movie, we discussed how slides need similarity to create consistency and create meaning by grouping like elements within a slide. We also discussed how similar elements need a contrasting element to break from the boring, so to speak, where you can create focal points by adding contrasting elements around a similar theme or dominant element. In this movie, we are going to be talking a bit more about contrast, further elaborating on why it's important, and talking about how adding contrasting elements to a presentation as a whole will improve audience engagement and focus. But first, let's talk about why we need contrast. We've already mentioned how presentations need some contrast to keep from becoming too dull or repetitive.
