Exploring Microsoft 365 core functionalities

At its core, Microsoft 365 is not one thing. It is a suite of products. Microsoft 365 has gone through many iterations of names. It was recently known as Microsoft Office 365, representing the Office suite type of products. Before that, we knew Microsoft 365 as the business productivity online suite, representing the heavy focus on business-type software solutions. Today, Microsoft 365 is so much more, but at its core, it is a suite of products to enable productivity for users, to ensure that users are able to do more, that users have access to the latest and the greatest of software solutions at all times. Even though within Microsoft 365 we still see the traditional Office products that are installed locally on computers, Microsoft 365 provides a very evolved management solution for users, devices, and software. What you see on your screen now is the Microsoft 365 portal for a user. When a user accesses their services in Microsoft 365, they have the ability to create, to modify, to view their documents, their files, their information, their images, and they can manage them in a meaningful way for their own needs. Administrators will then access the administrative portal in order to manage multiple users, sets of data, files, and any other property that can be managed by the various pieces of software that are part of the Microsoft 365 suite of products. There are primary workloads that we will look at throughout this course that are key to Microsoft 365, and that are truly the key offerings from Microsoft. The email services such as Exchange Online, the collaboration services such as Microsoft Teams, the document storage and management services such as OneDrive and SharePoint, as well as all the other products and services that are part of Microsoft 365. So in this interface, we see the client view. But if we click over onto the "Admin" button, we will see the administrative portal of Microsoft 365. We will manage this portal and the suite of other administrative centers that are also available to manage the specific workloads throughout this course.
