What the ITIL® exam is like
- [Instructor] You must pass the foundation exam to gain the ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management. The exam is closed book with 40 multiple choice questions, and takes 26 of 40, or 65% to pass. If you take the exam in a language that's not your own mother tongue, you get an extra 15 minutes and the use of a dictionary. Now, let's look at a couple of things that are the keys to passing the exam on the first attempt. First, take a quality course, that's half the battle, a course that includes everything you need to pass the exam, and it includes elements that make the concepts stick. Make sure it's accredited and written and delivered by practitioners who are also engaging instructors who provide real world examples, and take it in a format that works for you, whether that's traditional classroom training, virtual instructor-led training, or self-paced learning.
