- Before we roll up our sleeves and start researching an infographic together I want to provide one quick note about the tone of your infographic. We often consider the visual output of an infographic as the end all, be all, indicator of the design's success. And while it's true that 95% of first impressions are based on design and therefore the design of the infographic must be high quality an infographic will fall flat with its audience if the narrative isn't taking the time to speak directly to them. Just like you have to choose an illustration style that connects with your target audience you also need to ensure that you're speaking in their language. This means that you need to use words that are part of the common vernacular of your target audience. You need to ensure that your copy speaks at their level of understanding rather than speaking down to them or above their level of comprehension as well. The…
