- The most successful infographics are developed through a linear process, that starts with aligning stakeholders on the five W's and is followed by writing the word for word copy, that you want to act as the narrative foundation of the infographic. In other words, you don't need to ask yourself what comes first, the content or the design concept? The content, must inform the design concept. So it always must be something you develop before you start designing your infographic. To exemplify why this is so important, let's take a step back and look at my 2010 version of the history of e-commerce. Now you may be too kind to say it out loud, but don't worry I've said it plenty of times for you. What you see before you is a jumbled mess of a design. Now, there are many reasons this design doesn't pass muster, but many of these issues could have actually been solved, had I just taken the time to do my research before starting…
