- [Instructor] Access control is a framework comprised of methods that limit access to only authorized subjects, such as a person or a process, to objects or resources, such as a Word doc or spreadsheet on the network. Controlling access helps ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the company assets. Confidentiality protects information from unauthorized disclosure. Integrity protects information from unauthorized modification, and availability ensures that only authorized individuals can access resources. With a wide range of data available on the network including the internet, controls are put into place to allow or disallow access to objects.
