- [Instructor] In addition to using standard devices, such as firewalls to defend against threats, many networks employ advanced threat management devices. The devices are used to proactively defend against complex threats, and include high-end hardware firewalls, unified threat management appliances, intrusion detection/intrusion prevention systems and proxy servers. Advanced threat management devices have additional features, such as artificial intelligence and reputation-based monitoring. Let's talk about a few of the devices, starting with high-end hardware firewalls. These are dedicated appliances that provide high performance for small and mid-size businesses. These firewalls protect the edge and critical infrastructure environments without reducing network performance.
