- So what can you do to make sure you stay informed, educated, and in a good position to take advantage of the benefits of Generative AI within recruitment and steer clear of the risks? Let me walk you through my recommendations. First, get and stay informed. One of the easiest ways to stay on top of the latest developments in Gen AI is to set up some Google alerts. One of them should be focused on terms, like ChatGPT or Generative AI. The second one should include those terms along with terms like recruiting or HR or talent acquisition. You'll then receive daily alerts of matching internet content and stay informed of the latest developments and thoughts in the space within a few minutes a day. Of course, you can also search on LinkedIn for AI and recruiting content and follow thought leaders in that space to stay up to date. Second, you should throw fear and uncertainty out the window and resist any urges you have to cling to the way you've always done things. Gen AI is a game changer, and while change can be difficult, you can be a part of driving the evolution and future of recruiting. You have the exciting opportunity to proactively reimagine the recruiting process and experience with Gen AI. Start with identifying areas in your process where experiences and outcomes could be improved and then determine if Gen AI could be used to drive improvements. Third, proactively seek to be involved in your company's efforts to explore the use of Gen AI in talent acquisition. Participate in demos and product evaluations. Propose and volunteer to participate in pilots or proof of concepts. And experiment safely and responsibly with free Gen AI solutions. Volunteer to contribute to your company's corporate guidance on the responsible use of Gen AI and build and share best practices in the use of Gen AI within recruitment. Fourth, take the time to focus on developing your uniquely human skills. True empathy, relationship building, influence, creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving. These are core elements of effective recruiting and they can help you contribute to the continual improvement in your talent acquisition efforts. Gen AI is like any other tool. Like a calculator, a bicycle, or a computer, you can use Gen AI to augment your abilities, drive efficiencies, and improve outcomes. It's important to fully understand and experiment with new technologies as they emerge so you can drive maximum benefit and avoid the challenges and risks. As technologies like Gen AI continue to advance in their capabilities to impact talent acquisition, it's just as important to learn how to best use them as it is to continually develop your uniquely human skills.
