- Successful reporting in sales relies on data. Data points in your CRM exist in properties or fields. Ensuring your important properties are mapped into your CRM system means you're able to gather relevant data and see it in a meaningful way. For example, if you're reporting on your own lead generation efforts in a specific industry, you need to set up your contacts with a lifecycle stage and their industry. First, mapping and monitoring the lifecycle stage of a contact should look like this. New contact may be just a lead at first. If you have a marketing team or business development rep helping with pre-sales conversations, you can move the contact into a stage like marketing qualified lead when they've been qualified to receive marketing material.
