Tag content with the Reading Order tool

- [Instructor] Fundamentally, tags are how we identify the value of content in a document so that it can be read and interpreted using assistive technology. By applying a tag to an object, we're basically assigning semantic value to those elements. For example, a P tag is used to identify body text in a document, where an H1, H2, H3 tag and so on and so forth is used to identify heading tags in a document. Identifying heading tags is critical in helping users of assistive technology to disseminate information in the document and is covered by WCAG success criteria, 1.3.1, 2.4.1 and 2.4.6 It's also covered by the PDF techniques for WCAG in item number nine, as well as PDF/UA in checkpoint one. I'm going to begin by opening up the tags pane over here in my navigation pane. And what you're going to notice is that, it tells us that we currently have no tags available.
