- So opening the call. This is obviously the pressure moment, this is what most people worry about but it's actually an incredibly easy part of the call. So as soon as they answer the phone, I personally find that it works to not lie at all. Don't pretend you're not a cold caller, everybody knows what the deal is so just be totally frank with it. What you're doing is you're introducing yourself and you're introducing your product and you're telling them the reason you're calling, and you're using that hook that we discussed earlier. I often find that after you've done the hook you should ask a question just to engage them a bit. Ask them if they deal in that area, or if they are the right person to speak to. As I said I'm currently calling for IT solutions, I would call them and I would say, "Hello, my name is Miles and I work for x company. What we do is, we provide IT solutions to the recruitment sector." For example.…
