To ensure that cloud customer data remains secure in the cloud, the highest level of encryption should be implemented for data, both in transit and at rest. Data in transit encryption focuses on encrypting the communication channel within the cloud or between the cloud and other networks. Data rests encryption focuses on encrypting cloud storage. Encryption is regarded as one of the most effective controls in the cloud. In addition to protecting the data itself from misuse, cloud encryption also addresses other important security issues, including compliance with regulatory standards, primarily data privacy and protection standards.
