- One of the critical components of your incident response plan is a communications plan that covers both internal and external communications. A good incident response plan is a crucial element of stakeholder management. Incident notification and escalation procedures help ensure that appropriate people within your organization know about an incident at the right time and are provided with the right information. Communicating with individuals and groups outside of your organization can be a trickier task.
