From the course: Become a Marketing Entrepreneur

Start your own marketing business

- [Martin] You know, as a teenager, when everyone's parents were telling them to get a job, my dad would say, "Why would you want a job when you can work for yourself?" My dad was an entrepreneur who started a couple of successful fabric and drapery stores. He loved being independent, cultivating his idea and helping it grow. And that's what we're talking about in this course, how to create your own marketing or PR business and bring it to life. We begin by showing you how to analyze the potential for your startup and position yourself in the marketplace. You'll learn how to develop a business plan and cash flow and use your own marketing skills to get everything ready for a successful launch. Hi, I'm Martin Waxman, a digital communication strategist. I teach social media, and I'm a LinkedIn Learning instructor. Also, I've started two PR consultancies and two agencies, and I've never looked back. I'm going to share the entrepreneur's five Ps and give you strategies to help determine your place, new business pipeline, partners, business projections, and the price you can charge. I'll give you tips on how to think like both agency and client at the same time and use social media to develop awareness and prospects. These days, it's easier than ever to start your own marketing firm. It doesn't matter if you're out of a job or if this is something you've been thinking about for a while. Your recipe for success needs a great idea, a plan of action, determination, amazing work, and moxie. Oh, and one other detail, clients, of course. So what are you waiting for? Let's switch on the lights.
