- [Instructor] Light detection and ranging files, also known as LiDAR are classified LAS files that usually contain X, Y and Z values, as well as classifications such as ground vegetation, buildings, and sometimes elevation. Let's add some to our map now. In our folders, we'll go into DATA, LiDAR and add the one LiDAR file. It's the first one in the list. 553A1.las. We'll add that in. Now, at this scale, it's not going to show all the dots. It's just going to show the outline of where that LAS file is and it's going to be classified based on elevations. So if we zoom in, we start to see all the points inside of the LiDAR file. There they all are. And if I pick on one, you can see that that LiDAR file has lots of data. For example, shows you the location of the file itself, the elevation at that location, the coordinates. What kind of code it is. It's classified as five.
