Right now, this shot frankly isn't looking so hot, and that's partly because I have focused so much on trying to get it technically right, rather than capturing the desired feeling of this scene. Let's look at a couple of reference shots. So here, the focus is on the background, and the foreground talent is silhouetted, and even has a lens flare come over his head. So, there's very little you can see of his facial expression. Not that he's a very expressive actor. If we switch to an overexposed background, you can see the foreground guy very clearly. But of course, the shot's not looking so good. Now, you could call this a limitation of the camera, and that's somewhat true. But, if you go too far in the other direction, trying to resolve both the foreground and background, you get something, like this. So here we are on flickr, in the Creative Commons area.
