- [Instructor] As you gain more experience inside of After Effects you'll find that one of the most common tests you'll do all the time is twirling. This is just opening up a layer and drilling down to reveal properties in order to animate or make changes. And really it's a tedious process. The Properties panel is designed to reduce twirling by providing access in an easy to reach place. If you use Illustrator or Photoshop you'll find this UI familiar as this panel helps to maintain a consistent experience. Let's see this in action. In our O2 properties panel demo I have two shape layers, a text layer. I've got this brush texture here in the background. Now, if we wanted to make changes to any of the properties of these layers, we typically have to twirl down to reveal those properties in the timeline.
