From the course: After Effects CC 2023 Essential Training

Before you start

- [Narrator] Before we start, I wanted to bring your attention to a few items. First, if you're completely new to After Effects, I highly recommend you start with the foundations before continuing on with this course. Check out "After Effects Essential Training: The Basics" where you'll learn about the six foundations of compositions, layers, animation, 3D, effects and rendering. Here, inside of this course, we'll continue to build off of those basics and being familiar with the software before starting here will be beneficial. Throughout this course, I'll be using the default layout of After Effects, which you can find under Window, Workspace, Default. Or, you can press the Default button on the Workspace Toolbar of the interface. Additionally, to gain screen real estate, I've maximized the Application window by using the shortcut Control, Backslash on a PC, or, Command, Backslash on a Mac. Next, everyone's learning speed is a little different, so if you follow along with me and find that the pace is either too slow or too quick, I highly encourage you to change the playback speed to suit your needs, in addition to pausing and repeating previous sections. Lastly, this course covers core After Effects concepts that have remained intact throughout much of the application's history. However, because Adobe Creative Cloud apps are frequently being updated, you may encounter slight UI variations between what you see recorded on screen and the version of After Effects that you're running on your computer. Rest assured, you'll still be able to follow along despite this.
