- Now let's look a little more closely at our scenarios to understand the impact and importance of getting text equivalents right. We'll start with the podcast here. We see this very often. People will publish show notes to go along with their podcast. They're usually just a quick bullet point summary of the topics that were covered and are often published instead of transcripts. But that's not a good text equivalent when we compare it to the entire content of the podcast. Even without knowing the content of this podcast episode, you can tell that these show notes don't cut it. Is this list of bullet points enough for someone that can't hear to get the content of the audio? It simply isn't. People that are deaf or hard of hearing need the transcript.
