About the Opportunity:
The position of Vice President of Business Development will be responsible for generating new leads, maintaining contact with current customers, and achieving sales goals set forth by the Managing Executive. The ability to sell professional product development services, such as research, industrial design, engineering, prototyping and plastic injection tooling and injection molded components to enterprise-level clients. To be successful in this role, the VP of Business Development will need to have a deep understanding of the sales process and dynamics, along with superb interpersonal skills.
- 5+ years of sales experience (enterprise-level preferred)
- Product Design / Product Development experience
- Comfortable prospecting larger clients (Fortune 500)
- Able to get to decision-makers fast to secure sale
- ~$5M in revenue first year
- Confidence is the key
- Potential to become sales manager down the road
- Creative background preferred
ROLES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
• Establishes new accounts and services accounts by identifying potential customers; planning and organizing sales call schedule.
• Prospect for new clients by networking, cold calling, advertising, or other means of generating interest from potential clients.
• Work to achieve department quarterly new order, sales goals. Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met.
• Enhance existing relationships. Generate new business with existing customers via presentation of new products and services.
• Understand key customers’ products and services needs.
• Respond to customer inquiries via email, phone call, and/or in person visits.
• Respond to prospects, customers and coworkers in a timely and professional manner.
• Support company values including ethical conduct and high integrity in all actions
• Ensure that all customer needs are satisfied and that the company maintains a reputation for customer satisfaction.
• Communicates company and product values to prospective customers via formal and informal presentations, meetings and communications.
• Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
• Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
• Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
• Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
• Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
• Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
• Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM or other sales management system.
