Responsibilities

The Vice President (VP), Controller is responsible for partnering with the CFO on a wide range of financial matters, including leading and overseeing all aspects of Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll. This position is also responsible for ensuring the company’s accounting, internal controls, and all internal and external reports are produced accurately and timely in accordance with the agreed upon schedule.

Essential Duties

  • Serve as a key partner with the CFO on a wide range of financial matters relating to historical financial performance, cash flow, accounting, and controls, including implementing effective purchase strategies to improve control processes.
  • Lead all aspects of the Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll functions, including managing integration of acquired companies.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a highly competent team, thoroughly documenting processes and procedures.
  • Manage monthly GL close process, engineering process and defining staff duties to accelerate the current monthly close to be completed within five (5) working days.
  • Maintain accurate and complete books and records in accordance with GAAP.
  • Produce financial statements for distribution to internal management operating reviews, lenders, and board of directors.
  • Provide accurate answers to questions about the financial statements from board members and management.
  • Produce content for quarterly Board of Directors’ and Audit Committee presentations and monthly board reporting.
  • Prepare presentations and participate in quarterly Audit Committee meetings.
  • Produce quarterly lender certification and covenant calculations.
  • Periodically review and revise accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate administration, set up, training, and use of Dynamics 365, LeaseQuery, UKG/Dimensions, and Concur. Manage and maintain quality of data and reporting from key accounting and control systems.
  • Ensure appropriate control procedures are in place and are followed.
  • Serve as the key point person for the annual financial statement audit and actively manage the relationship with external auditors.
  • Handle routine tax, licensing, and other compliance matters.
  • Administer credit card program for field and corporate purchasing needs.
  • Manage accounts payable process from invoice approval to vendor payment, including leading improvements to streamline the AP and payroll processes, leveraging Concur and UKG.
  • Responsible for efficient and accurate payroll processing every two weeks. Drive process improvements and leverage systems to create efficiencies and improve controls.
  • Ensure accurate and timely production of payroll reporting and analytics.
  • Drive timecard compliance and assist with driving organizational accountability for timekeeping and front-line manager review and approvals.
  • Manage process to ensure efficient and accurate vendor set up and maintenance.
  • Routinely review third party contracts to assess accounting treatment, potential impact to financial statements, compliance with lender covenants, and reasonability of financial terms.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license preferred.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in public accounting, audit, or corporate accounting.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in an accounting operations leadership position within a multisite healthcare business or big four accounting firm preferred.
