Job Description Summary

Florida Polytechnic University invites applications for a Vice Provost of Academic Affairs (VPAA). This is a staff position with a standard, fully benefited, twelve-month work expectation.

The Vice Provost of Academic Affairs is part of the academic leadership team comprised of the Vice Provost of Student Affairs, Vice Provost of Enrollment Management, the Department Chairs, the Associate Vice Provost of Student Success, the University Registrar, the Director of Sponsored Programs, the Graduate Program Coordinator, and the Director of Academic Affairs. The Vice Provost is responsible for accreditation activity, ongoing assessment across the institution in support of continuous improvement, supporting faculty development programs, and manages the Institutional Research Department which provides all reporting to the state as well as delivering critical strategic information to the Provost and the AA management team. The VPAA manages the support of the learning management system (Canvas) and must play a proactive and critical role in ongoing support of faculty development at the university as defined by academic leadership.

In addition, the individual will have significant experience with accreditation submissions/processes. Institution level leadership experience is highly recommended.

Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

  • Ph.D. and five years of work experience related to accreditation or institutional research or ten years work experience related to accreditation or institutional research.
  • Direct experience preparing an ABET or Regional accreditation submission.

DESIRED / PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated involvement in department level or institution level policy creation, management, or curriculum development.
  • Teaching experience at all collegiate levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify project opportunities and independently develop proposals that are subsequently funded.
  • Experience with students’ academic mentoring and/or advising.
  • Experience in program assessment and execution of a continuous improvement plan.
  • Active participation in professional activities and organizations.

Faculty are employed at Florida Poly via renewable, term defined appointments, codified in a collective bargaining agreement, that substantially mirrors tenure systems with reappointment and progression in rank upon completion of a significant review of accomplishments.
