Vice President, Investment Accounting

This client is a publicly traded P&C insurance/reinsurance carrier with global operations and a balanced portfolio of direct and indirect business. Seeking a VP, Investments Accounting to lead financial accounting and reporting for diverse asset classes. This role oversees day-to-day activities, maintains accounting practices and internal controls, and ensures timely financial analysis and reporting. Reporting to the Group Controller, the successful candidate will be a hands-on leader committed to excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage global investment accounting team and collaborate with external accounting provider and internal investment management team for financial reporting.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture by working closely with Controllers, ensuring accurate recognition of accounting for investment transactions.
  • Drive accountability by evaluating new GAAP and statutory reporting impacts and assisting in implementing new business financial reporting.
  • Understand data flow through financial systems, plan for changes, and prioritize enhancements.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance internal controls within investment accounting activities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external investment managers and treasury department for accurate, timely, and efficient data submission.
  • Support annual and ongoing financial planning & analysis, coordinating with Risk Management & Capital Planning.
  • Resolve reporting issues with the investment operations team, liaise with custodians, and interact with external and internal auditors.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
  • 7-10 years of Investment Accounting experience in financial services.
  • Prior U.S. GAAP and Public Company/SEC reporting experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of financial modeling concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of personal integrity and experience handling confidential data.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to establish credibility, and build trust.
  • Strong business and collaboration skills, responsive to service needs.
  • Demonstrated track record of excellent decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple assignments.
