Position Title: Technical Director
Department: Production
Position Summary
In conjunction with the Production Manager, oversee, maintain, and implement all technical aspects for the Scenery, Props, and Paint departments in all productions for Tuacahn's yearly schedule. Oversee build crews and run crews. Work closely with scenic designers and staff to realize scenic elements for all productions, including set construction, properties, paint and set dressing. To establish budgets and estimated cost for scenic elements, Painted elements and Prop elements for all productions.
Responsibilities
To uphold and implement Tuacahn's policy and procedures and to implement new policy and procedure for safe and consistent theatrical performance.
In conjunction with the production manager establish yearly budgets and schedules for the Scenery, Props, and Paint departments.
In conjunction with scenic designer's and production management develop build drawings, estimates and material take offs for scenic production elements.
In conjunction with production management develop schedules and deadlines for the Scenery, Props, and Paint departments.
In conjunction with design, artistic and production management, develop and implement all Stage design elements.
Maintain and oversee all technical elements for nightly repertoire performance.
In conjunction with stage management coordinate show presets and approve all technical departments for nightly repertoire performance.
Develop, coordinate, and implement scenic and production elements for all Tuacahn events.
Oversee all hiring for the Scenery, Props, and Paint departments
Approve Time and Payroll for Supervisors.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in theater arts and/or 5 years experience as a Technical Director for a professional theater, and or applicable experience.
Preferred extensive knowledge in rigging.
Knowledgeable with computer aided drafting ability to produce drawings for construction of scenic elements from renderings (AutoCAD Preferred).
Ability to estimate and quantify needed materials for scenic designs from renderings.
Ability to produce budgets and work with spreadsheet programs such as Excel
Ability to oversee and schedule large staff for nightly performance.
Knowledgeable in scenic automation and use.
Knowledgeable in best practice and OSHA regulations.
Knowledgeable in AEA production requirements.
Skills/Abilities
Passion about technical theater and desire to become more proficient.
Varied Theatrical background and strong understanding of entertainment technology.
Exhibits knowledge of proper production safety procedures.
Calm / Professional demeanor, sense of humor encouraged.
Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook.
Experience with reading AutoCAD and other drafting documents.
Exercise good judgment and discretion.
Flexibility in projects and schedules.
Ability to execute projects efficiently and according to schedule.
Ability to work independently and to maintain a positive work atmosphere.
Work schedule varies and includes evening and weekend hours.

2024 Season shows include Frozen, Anastasia, Jersey Boys, Ring of Fire, and A Christmas Carol.
