Akkodis is currently partnering with one of our clients that is seeking an experienced contract Technical Writer to develop a formal IT disaster recovery plan This initiative aims to ensure the organization is prepared to recover business operations and respond effectively to events that could disrupt the IT infrastructure. This role involves extensive collaboration with the Business Systems Analyst team and various departments to gather, document, and formalize the knowledge held by our technical experts.


Pay/Salary Range: 45 to 55 hr


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with BSAs and department leads to gather detailed information on IT operations and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Document IT disaster recovery plans, ensuring all technical processes and protocols are clearly articulated.
  • Develop artifacts that illustrate how disaster recovery processes will be conducted.
  • Utilize MS tools and Visio to create detailed documentation, charts, and process maps.
  • Ensure documentation is comprehensive, detailing application requirements, maintenance schedules, and reporting cadences.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and business colleagues to obtain and verify information.
  • Build strong relationships across departments to facilitate information gathering and ensure accuracy.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Seniority Level: 7-8+ years of experience in technical writing or business analysis.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proven experience in disaster recovery (DR) planning.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, data centers, and infrastructure is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience with Visio and Swimlane diagrams for process mapping.
  • Industry Experience: Preferably from healthcare, government, or retail sectors.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to engage with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to ask insightful questions and think creatively to extract and document critical information.
  • Proactive and assertive in engaging technical staff to obtain necessary information.
