Per diem will be paid for this project. For the project's duration, the candidate will be based on location.
Assists the Party Chief with proper research before going to a job site and is in charge of operating applicable instrument data collectors. This person is expected to accurately collect field data using the equipment. Sets up equipment and accurately gathers survey data. Assists Party Chief with daily functions as necessary. Ensures truck is stocked and ready for job site each day. Carries various survey instruments, line locators, hammers, stakes, etc. Clears topography when needed. Experience with topographic mapping, boundary, and as-built surveys related to oil and gas infrastructure, real estate, and utility infrastructure is preferred.
Essential Functions

Set up a total station, a base set up, and network rovers and accurately gather survey data
Load CSV, TXT files, shape files, and stake out files into a TSC3/data collector for completion of survey work
Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, and other Microsoft software
Perform and set up field survey equipment for OPUS Control point and submit the correct files to complete and get OPUS control point to NOAA
Perform a closed loop traverse and reduce the data and run a trig level
Perform functions such as inverse, resection, stake a line, translate, and rotate coordinates in the field
Prelim and As-Built Pipeline Experience
Read a recorded subdivision plat or a metes and bounds legal description.
Run a map check and list the map error of closure using said equipment
Locate property corners using a pin finder, recorded deed, or subdivision plat
Run line work
Learn field codes specific to TGS
Responsible for cutting line
Calibrate a prism rod
Ensure the truck is fully equipped every day
All duties performed are to be carried out according to the safety of all personnel at the worksite and to perform the task efficiently.

Experience with Trimble GPS equipment and Total Station is preferred
Must be able to perform job duties in various terrain and climates
Ability to read instructions, plans, and specifications
Ability to engage in fieldwork for extended periods and occasionally under adverse weather conditions as necessitated by work assignments
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and sketches.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Land surveying experience a plus
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Work Environment
Work is performed both outdoors and in an office environment. Outdoor work may be conducted at landfills, construction sites, and in traffic.
Physical Demands
To perform the essential functions of the job, incumbents may be required to perform moderately strenuous tasks, such as including lifting and carrying instruments weighing up to 75 pounds over rough terrain. Incumbents may also be required to clear vegetation, dig holes, and pound stakes with hand tools.
