Job Summary
The Special Education Behavior Coordinator is responsible for supporting students, and teachers of students, with social emotional and/ or behavioral disabilities in various special education settings throughout the district. The coordinator works closely with other educational professionals to develop behavior intervention plans for students whose behavior impedes their learning and/or the learning of others.

Job Summary
The Special Education Behavior Coordinator is responsible for supporting students, and teachers of students, with social emotional and/ or behavioral disabilities in various special education settings throughout the district. The coordinator works closely with other educational professionals to develop behavior intervention plans for students whose behavior impedes their learning and/or the learning of others.
Essential Functions
- Organize professional development for special education teachers.
- Provide coaching to special education teachers on developing functional behavior assessments and behavior plans.
- Provide support to school teams to ensure compliance with Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA) federal regulations and Utah State Board of Education (USBE) Special Education Rules.
- Provide ideas for data collection and progress monitoring on behavior.
- Participate in district level Professional Learning Committees (PLCs) and committee meetings in collaboration with general education and other district level committees.
- Provide training in the Mandt system, Emergency Safety Intervention (ESI) procedures, Least Restrictive Behavior Intervention (LRBI), and related data collection for special education teachers and school teams.
- Support special education teachers in effective instruction and behavior strategies within a full range of service options from self-contained settings to inclusion models.
- Provide support to school teams in working with students who are on the autism spectrum. This will include assistance with eligibility determination, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies, Individualized Educational Program (IEP) goal development, behavior strategies, and parent interaction.

- Maintain the standards of professional conduct and provide leadership to improve student learning.
- Excellent understanding of the IDEA, USBE Special Education Rules and LRBI manual, and Granite School District policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Utah Core Standards and Proficiency Based Learning.
- Ability to develop effective functional behavior assessments and behavioral intervention plans.
- Works independently with little direct supervision.
- Works as part of a team.
- Accepts responsibility and is self-motivated.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative, positive relationships.
- Ability to work successfully with all stakeholders in a coaching situation.
- Display effective multi-tasking and time management skills.
- Requires one of the following:
- a valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Special Education License Area of Concentration; or
- an equivalent license in another state or country.
Required Prior Experience
- Requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a licensed special education position.
