The Site Manager Field Service travels to lead complex major outages and uprates. They provide on-site project leadership, engineering and technical support, and serve as the primary on-site customer point of contact. In addition, they may serve as overall project lead on smaller scope turn-key projects or on backshift as project assignment demands require. Activities may involve, but not be limited to, support on steam turbines, generators, valves, and auxiliary systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Site Manager

  • Serves as on-site single point of contact for the customer.
  • May support pre-outage planning remotely or as part of site customer meetings.
  • Coordinates Toshiba, vendor, and craft labor affiliate work activities.
  • Responsible for thorough completion of final on-site Project Reports.
  • Identifies emergent work and coordinates parts, tooling, and vendor needs with project team and customer.
  • Advises on schedule updates due to emergent items with internal project teams and customer as appropriate.

Technical Advisor

  • Provides technical guidance and engineering expertise in support of project site work
  • Work may be for service, repair, installations, or fleet outages
  • Advise and support disassembly, repair, and assembly of power generation equipment and auxiliary systems
  • May support power generation equipment start up activities
  • Supports trouble shooting activities
  • Coordinates with Toshiba design groups as directed by Project/Site Manager
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests

May Assist Project as Site Shift Supervisor

  • Supervises site labor assigned to project activities
  • Manages shift activities
  • Approves labor timesheets
  • Submits shift work activity reports
  • Coordinates shift activities with Project Manager and Field Services Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls teams.
  • Notifies Project Manager of all issues that can/might impact project schedule or costs
  • Submits expense reports in a timely manner to allow project accounting to finalize project costs

Proposal/contract planning support

  • Assists Project Manager and Field Services leadership in project development as assigned
  • Ensures technical requirements are met in the end product; addresses technical issues with sub-contractors and suppliers


TRAVEL:

Over 50% annually

Must be able to travel 90% of the time and work significant overtime during outage seasons


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be able to read English with excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Above average verbal and written communications skills, including: organization and direction of technical personnel, experience in procedure and process documentation and technical report writing.
  • Familiarity with product and document management, including PDM systems is preferred.
  • Experience in installation, repair, or refurbishment of power generation equipment


EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Bachelor's Level Degree Highly Preferred

  • Minimum 10 years industry experience with Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years industry experience with High School degree


CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

  • Certified Steam Turbine, Hydro or Nuclear technology training by Toshiba or other OEM is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is required to sit, stand, talk, and hear.

Frequently required to walk on hard surfaces.

Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crawl

Occasionally required to climb stairs and ladders

Driving required

Must be able to work extended shifts

Ability to lift 30 pounds and carry hand tools up and down stairs safely

Ability to work both Day Shift and Night Shift without limitation, including transportation to and from the jobsite.

Ability to pass background drug tests for access to all work sites

Willing and able to work throughout North America without limitation or sponsorship
