About Your Role

The Technical Support Documentation team is in search of a Senior Technical Writer to be responsible for the creation, curation, and publication of Bluebeam’s customer-focused support content. The Senior Technical Writer shapes our users’ experience through the documentation by authoring short-form articles such as how-tos, troubleshooting, tips + tricks, and licensing + registration -- in addition to more detailed documentation like installation guides and tutorials.

The Senior Technical Writer works collaboratively with the team of writers, reviewing and editing each other’s content. This content is hosted on support.bluebeam.com, a WordPress website, which all technical writers actively assist in maintaining.

What you'll do:

  • Write, format, edit, review, and publish customer-facing support content.
  • Apply deep knowledge of written voice, tone, and style to all content, consistent with brand guidelines.
  • Analyze existing and potential documentation to identify single-sourcing opportunities and perform content reuse integration tasks
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure the timely release of Support notices, release notes, and other important customer-facing content.
  • Monitor internal chat systems (Slack) for potential issues with the Support site, and suggestions for improvements from other teams.

What We'd Like To See In You

  • 5 years of technical writing experience or equivalent
  • Experience with Madcap Flare
  • Experience and/or familiarity with UX design
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ability to apply critical and innovative thinking; lead initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of team processes.
  • Experience taking projects from ideation to implementation, including managing timelines, resources, expectations, deliverables, etc., with minimal guidance or oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain concepts simply and clearly
  • Excellent editing skills (and application of grammar)
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced remote environment, both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate empathy for our users
  • Solid understanding of Windows operating systems (i.e., folder hierarchies, installing and uninstalling programs and drivers, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Manual of Style and/or writing guidelines in general
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and XML
  • Experience with analytics/metrics
  • Localization familiarity and/or experience
  • Support a positive and open culture; be comfortable with collaboration and giving and receiving constructive feedback

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and/or familiarity with UX writing and usability principles and how content strategy and creation contribute to the user experience.
  • Experience facilitating localization and working with translated content.
  • Previous Customer Service experience. While not interfacing with them directly, our team is ultimately a customer-facing team. Understanding the needs of our customers is an important part of managing a website that serves them best.
  • Experience with architectural or structural programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Tekla or SolidWorks
  • Experience working within the AEC (Architectural, Engineering, and Construction) industry
  • SaaS experience

The base pay offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations. Base pay is one part of Bluebeam’s Total Rewards program, which seeks to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable commission plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a bonus under the terms of an applicable bonus plan.
