We currently have an opening for the following position: Sr. Property Accountant
Overview:
The Sr. Property Accountant is responsible for complex accounting activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and for developing financial statements and reports for multifamily properties. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.
Location: This role is a hybrid/remote opportunity. The primary office is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role may be required to travel to Indianapolis annually for training opportunities.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00a – 5:00P ET.
FLSA Status: Full-time, exempt, salary pay.

Accurate/Timely Financial Reporting
Property Budgets

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Prepares all aspects of the monthly financial statement package, including bank reconciliation, creating
and posting journal entries, general ledger review, review budget to actual comparison to ensure proper coding and completion of back up schedules
Assist Property Manager with annual property budgets, variance reports and any financial related projects PM may need
Ensures all debt, reserve requests, subsidies, insurance, security deposits and owner distribution payments/receipts are made in a timely manner and internal databases are updated and maintained
Monitor and maintain cash balances as required by client
Ensures that the monthly financial package is completed and delivered to Portfolio Accounting Manager in a timely and accurate manner
Resolve report issues and document response to all review comments generated
Acts as a liaison with Property Management promoting an open and constructive communication, ensuring a positive relationship
Works closely with site management to identify and resolve tenant ledger and other accounts receivable issues
Ensure all client and PM requests are processed timely, accurately and with a high level of professionalism to guarantee client satisfaction
Adheres to internal accounting policies and procedures
Creates month-end accounting entries and reconciles discrepancies
Posts to GL and reviews variances to budget
Responds to and resolves issues and requests from management teams and clients regarding various accounting issues and reports, including Profit and Loss statements
Coordinate and lead the transition of new properties
Prepare information required for auditors
Completes and reviews complex financial/business analysis and reports
Develops and implements financial policies and procedures
Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university
5 or more years related experience
Ability to analyze the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions
Ability to analyze and solve problems involving several options with limited information
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form and to work independently
Ability to work well under pressure with a proactive approach to unusual occurrences
Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles
Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills
Requires good organizational skills, attention to detail and an openness to new ideas and procedures
General experience with MS Office software and Real Estate accounting software (Yardi Preferred)
