Irving Knight's partner is an innovative market leader within the Building Products market. The company is growing enormously and seeking a leading Senior Project Engineer for one of their critical locations in the North East.


Job Outline


This role involves managing capital projects and manufacturing programs across the organizations Building Envelope manufacturing facilities. The incumbent will oversee scope, schedule, and budget for these projects and programs, ensuring the delivery of project objectives using standard project management tools and the Stage Gate capital process.


Duties and Responsibilities include:


  • Ensure process and construction safety for managed projects and programs.
  • Adhere strictly to Safety Policies relevant to the job and site, including permits, personal protective equipment, safe working practices, and LOTO.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through the Stage Gate capital process for project development and execution.
  • Define project scope, design criteria, budgets, resource needs, and establish and manage project schedules.
  • Plan and execute programs/projects, ensuring cost-effective and timely completion of deliverables.
  • Investigate new processes, technologies, and equipment to meet business objectives.
  • Support Manufacturing in process improvement, debottlenecking, and yield gain efforts while providing technical support.
  • Specify equipment with optimal configuration adaptable to product specifications.
  • Ensure communication and alignment with site and operations leadership on all project details.
  • Manage and collaborate with Project Teams and key stakeholders.
  • Identify key equipment vendors and project resources.
  • Provide innovative engineering solutions to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Manage multiple, complex projects from concept to completion.
  • Coordinate and lead project charter reviews, design reviews, and execution plans, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Develop detailed project schedules in MS Project or equivalent and manage activities to schedule.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work and project execution plans for managed projects and programs.
  • Promote and support the application of the Management of Change (MOC) and Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation (CQV) standards.
  • Independently initiate and establish plans to meet customer requirements for new or changed products, processes, systems, or technologies.
  • Lead design efforts for new or revised products, processes, systems, and technologies.
  • Conduct design, project, and/or management reviews.
  • Propose new programs/projects to enhance performance or increase capabilities for the business.
  • Contribute to the planning and development of engineering strategy and provide technical leadership within the assigned area.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers, indirectly responsible for their technical development.
  • Acquire general knowledge of principles and practices in related fields, and function on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Provide guidance on technical issues to other departments.
  • Maintain technical skills and stay current on changing regulations, advances in the field, and new technologies relevant to their work. Attend seminars and training to enhance technical skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent experience. Preferred majors: Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in office software such as MS Office, Google Suite, MS Project, or similar.
  • At least 5 years of project management experience in the processing industries (building materials, chemicals, paper, etc.).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to set priorities, collect and document project requirements, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Quick and eager learner of new material, able to think holistically through complex problems with technical and non-technical components.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a proactive and collaborative style, strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational, time-management, and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with key stakeholder groups.
  • Strong collaboration, influence, and change management skills.
