Senior Product Manager, Apparel and Merchandise

Slate Troy, MI

About Re:Car dba Slate

Re:Car dba Slate is a new US company that is exploring development in the electric vehicle space.

Who we are looking for:

Re:Car dba Slate is looking for an upbeat, organized, and innovative Senior Product Manager to join our team to lead the development of our Apparel and Merchandise category. We are exploring opportunities in the electric mobility space and are building complimentary accessories, apparel, and merchandise capability.

This role focuses on creating clothing and licensed merchandise products with a purpose. Reporting directly to the Head of Accessories Product Management, you are customer-led in everything that you do. Your primary responsibility is to translate customer needs into useful products that foster deep brand connections through expression. As a product manager, you will drive the end-to-end product lifecycle development, with extensive creative partnership with our Brand team.

Travel is required to suppliers and company office sites (10% to 25% on average) to support team and project work.

What you get to do:

  • Study current market trends and collaborate with the Brand team to create a product roadmap for apparel and licensed merchandise, including core lines and special editions.
  • Turn the roadmap into a live catalog of products with business cases with release plans. You represent the Concept to Consumer evolution.
  • Assist in creating the product development process and then manage the end-to-end cycle of approved products on the line plan. This includes product sunset management.
  • Seek and onboard unique partners and suppliers that reflect our brand DNA and key customers. This includes working with our Purchasing team on establishing a flexible supply chain.
  • Partner with Brand and Legal teams to secure product licensing and reseller agreements.
  • Create presentations and documentations and present to cross-functional leadership. This includes product updates and recommendations. We share the spotlight!
  • Have a lot of fun working on a dynamic and engaging team with a seat at the table.

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent relevant experience. Master’s Degree or MBA is a plus. Exceptional experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in fashion, footwear, textiles, marketing, soft goods and accessories, and/or licensed products with knowledge of CMF process and mastering.
  • Proven track-record of taking products from concept-to-creation, with strong project management, analytical, and communication skills. You will project manage your own products.
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to create business cases and line plans.
  • Comfortable in start-up environments. You can roll up your sleeves to do the work and build or recommend the tools needed to be successful as the company grows.
  • A proactive “one company” teammate with a continuous improvement approach, that is equally comfortable with engineering details and business planning.
  • Capability to work cross-functionally with partners, suppliers, and vendors, building strong relationships that produce positive results. Experience with ethical sourcing is preferred.
  • Ability to be an effective brand representative and ambassador to the Re:Car dba Slate community, both presenting the brand’s vision and collecting inputs to inform future products.

We want to work with people that reflect the communities in which we operate.
