About The Job

This position will manage Twilio.org’s multi-million dollar nonprofit grant and investment portfolio. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to manage grant and investment partnerships that empower nonprofits, NGOs, and social enterprises to use technology to tackle major challenges facing communities globally.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Be responsible for managing the development and execution of grants through Twilio.org ’s Global Impact Fund, a donor advised fund created as part of Twilio’s 1% pledge of equity to the community.
  • Identify organizations that align with our Global Impact Fund strategy and can benefit from Twilio’s technology, funding and pro bono support to achieve their missions.
  • Build and manage a proactive grant portfolio that empowers social impact partners to prepare for, respond to, and recover from crises related to people displacement (humanitarian action); combat climate change; and support equitable long-term wellbeing globally.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage impact investments to ensure they align with both the financial and impact goals of Twilio.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Twilio.org’s programs and priority funding areas and remain abreast of current research, activities, and trends in the corporate philanthropy sector.
  • Monitor grants for program compliance including, but not limited to, ensuring that grant requirements are correctly documented in the grant files and database.
  • Monitor and document the grantmaking workflow processes, forms, templates, reports and data.
  • Problem-solve complex grant scenarios; consult/liaise with finance and/or legal counsel.
  • Collaborate with teams across Twilio and Twilio.org to provide value-add support to Impact Fund partners globally, from pro bono support to product education.
  • Ensure Twilio.org ’s grants support impact that aligns with Twilio.org ’s theory of change through outcomes based measurement and evaluation.
  • Ensure the consistent exercise of appropriate judgment, ethics and integrity when evaluating opportunities, conducting due diligence, and determining partnership terms.

Required

  • Deep knowledge of the charitable sector’s digital transformation needs, constraints, and opportunities, with ideas for how technology companies can support them in this effort. Will advocate for high-impact programs that empower social sector partners to help underserved and under-resourced populations.
  • 8+ years of related grant management and/or partnership experience at a technical nonprofit, NGO, Foundation and/or technology company.
  • An understanding of the technology sector and a passion for using technology to drive social impact.
  • A strategic mindset with a strong ability to execute. Can flawlessly create and manage action plans with tactics, dependencies and timelines. Strong ability to achieve outcomes and meet deadlines even when there are numerous competing priorities.
  • A proactive, successful relationship-builder with people at any level of an organization, including in nonprofits, social enterprises, community foundations and corporate social impact teams.
  • Experience building processes to measure, track and report on how grant partnerships create social impact in alignment with a theory of change.
  • Data management experience, familiarity with data systems and business processes.
  • Financial or business analysis skills.

Location

This role will be remotebut is not eligible to be hired in California, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Washington.

Travel

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado: $112,320 - $140,400.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
